The Ship & Crew

The Qiretan is an independently operated frontier vessel built around flexibility. One job may be hauling cargo, the next escorting passengers, the next delivering a courier package or surveying an unknown route. Legitimate work keeps the ship flying, and adaptability keeps the crew alive.

The ship does not belong to the captain. It belongs collectively to the people who serve aboard her and accept responsibility for carrying her forward. A crewmember is free to leave and may negotiate what they take with them, but they cannot take the Qiretan herself.

That principle is more than an ownership rule. It is the heart of the setting: the crew is a chosen family.

Phineas first wrote those words privately in his journal. A later captain found them and decided they deserved to become something permanent, eventually having them engraved on a plaque near the cargo and storage entrance.
